Project Design by The Modern Caravan Photograph by Kate Oliver

Seven years ago, Ellen Prasse and her partner Kate Oliver found themselves in a rut. Looking to change the course of their lives, they bought a vintage Airstream, documenting the renovation process via their Instagram account @themoderncaravan. Come with us on a tour of their renovated mobile home.

A small granite sink anchors the kitchen space.

Every nook and cranny is put to use storing essentials.

The dining area features a custom table made from salvaged boards and a marine pedestal leg.

Rugged materials are a must when communing with the outdoors.

The built-in bed is made with linens from House of Baltic and vintage pillows.

The couple folds their clothes Marie Kondo style to save space.

A row of vintage hooks provides additional bedroom storage.

In the bathroom, a small copper sink blends seamlessly into the walnut counter.

The compact shower/bath is completely waterproofed.

The wood and clean lines of the interior contrast with the Airstream's sleek, silver exterior.

Ellen admires her handiwork.
