Architect: Barbara Bestor Interior Design: DISC Interiors Landscape Design: Elysian Landscapes Photography by Laure Joliet
When Sarah Lambert and John Dolan bought their 1940's ranch house in the hills of LA's Studio City, it was in dire need of updating. They summoned a small army to complete the project: architect Barbara Bestor, interior design firm DISC Interiors, and landscape design firm Elysian Landscapes. The finished product is an airy, modern dwelling that fully integrates indoors and out.
The refrigerator and freezer are concealed behind double-door cabinets.
The open plan kitchen and dining room blend classic midcentury elements with contemporary design.
The sofa is a custom DISC design.
A bespoke console and wall unit mirror the kitchen millwork.
The living room opens up to the main bedroom and hall.
A second seating area is hung with pieces from the couple's longstanding art collection.
The interior of the main bedroom is focused on texture.
Instead of table lamps, DISC installed low hanging lights at the bedside.
The main bathroom pairs classic subway tile with Moroccan eight-point star concrete tiles.
