As a wedding gift to my husband and me, a close friend gave us a scrapbook in which she had taped envelopes on each page. In every envelope was a letter from a loved one congratulating us on our union. It was such a sweet and thoughtful idea—and all the more charming and special, I think, because of the envelopes. There’s something deeply satisfying about putting things in (and retrieving them from) pockets.
