A hotel for homebodies: The Laslett in Notting Hill, London, feels like home only better. Housed in five interconnected Victorian townhouses, the hotel has an eclectic vibe: Prints by local artists line the walls, neighbors drop by for coffee, a vintage bar cart makes the rounds each night, and stacks of well-loved Penguin Classics can be found on every nightstand. Here’s a look inside.

Above: Named for a Notting Hill community activist, the Laslett is inspired by the vibrancy of the neighborhood. Tom Bartlett (of London architecture and interiors firm Waldo Works) partnered with Tracy Lowy of UK “hotel alternative” company Living Rooms to create spaces that “celebrate the characterful and cultural heritage” of Notting Hill—starting with open-to-the-public common areas. Seen here: the library, where floating shelves are “brimming with British art and design books.”
Above: Each of the 51 guest rooms includes local touches: vintage finds from nearby Portobello Market, bespoke Imo benches and bedside tables by London design company Pinch Design (see our post Pinch Design: Almost Bespoke Armoires), and textiles by Eleanor Pritchard. Above: Rooms and suites feature antiques from collector Jerome Dodd, who recently held a pop-up shop of his objets d’art in the lobby.
