There’s a lot to admire designwise coming out New Zealand of late, but how to explain their particular knack for stylish laundry rooms? Kiwis, it seems, know how to keep it clean. At least that’s the case, judging from:
- A Marble-and-Brass Laundry Room in Small, Medium, and Large
- The George & Willy Hanging Laundry Rack
- Hardwearing Laundry Hampers from New Zealand
Here are our latest favorite laundry designs from down under: three setups created by Auckland-based Homestyle magazine featuring appliances from Fisher & Paykel—which, not coincidentally, is a New Zealand company. Using simple layouts and storage, each presents ideas for how to “make the practical pretty.” Homestyle art director Juliette Wanty says, “The laundry is the workhorse of your home and should enjoy the same design consideration as other parts of the dwelling,”

The Laundry Closet
The washing machine is the Fisher & Paykel Aqua Smart Top Loader. The sink is an American Standard similar to the Loft Collection Counter Sink with a Parisi Envy Basin Mixer tap. For clothes hanger ideas, take a look at 11 Favorites: Display-Worthy Hangers. The industrial Canvas Basket, $99.50, is by Remodelista favorite Steele Canvas of Boston (see it in Remodelista: The Organized Home).
The Multiuse Laundry Room
The appliances are the Fisher & Paykel FabricSmart Front Load Washer and Condensing Dryer. For similar faucet options, see the Remodelista post 10 Easy Pieces: Architects’ Go-To Modern Faucets. The large Kaisa Laundry Basket, $49.99 NZD, came from Trade Aid.
