Melo, a company out of Dalarna, Sweden, makes furniture with all the elements we’ve come to associate with Scandinavian design: thoughtful, minimalistic, sustainable, and light-colored. While the design is decidedly Swedish—each piece is handmade to order in a village called Mockfjärd in Dalarna, four hours northwest of Stockholm—the founder of Melo hails from Spain. Carmelo Medina Tadeo (who goes by “Melo”) moved from Gran Canaria to Sweden to create the minimalist line. Here’s a look at some favorites.
Above: The Coffee Table is made of ash wood that has been treated twice with white wax and once with a clear matte wax; 5,900 SEK ($688 USD).
Above: The Ash Magazine Rack is intended to hold paintings, magazines, books, or photographs and comes in ash or white; 1,090 SEK ($127 USD) for the 90cm (35 inch) size.
