
Not so long ago, it was hard to source sets of enameled tableware other than from vintage dealers and a few small European brands. As of this summer, contemporary takes on the classic picnic and camping ware—lightweight, durable, and nostalgic—are everywhere. And there’s a lot to like.
Much of the new enamelware is bright and festive; see, for instance the Colorama collection from Bornn and Utilitario Mexicano’s Mexican-made line. But for year-round indoor use, we’re drawn to the neutral tones of Jenni Kayne’s under-the-radar collection. It shades-of-clay palette lend the forms a pleasing simplicity that calls to mind Dutch still-life paintings: The Girl With a Pearl Earring might set her table with these plates and bowls.
