Object of Desire: Colorful Laundry Hampers from New Zealand

Probably to a fault, our editors tend toward the neutral end of the spectrum when it comes to home design. A palette that traffics in grays, browns, and every shade of white is where we feel most comfortable. That said, we don’t mind a splash of color when it’s done right.

These color-saturated laundry hampers from New Zealand–based designers Mavis & Osborn are done right.

We first took note of their well-designed hampers in 2016. Back then, their hampers came in neutral colors (cream, black, and indigo). When we revisited their site recently, we were pleasantly surprised to see a slew of rich hues offered—along with new fabrics (canvas, linen, wool, and water-resistant cotton) and a choice of leather straps (black, natural, and tan), frames (champagne and black), and sizes (small and large).
