Inspiration Pegboard: Stylish Wall Storage at The New Craftsmen’s Studio

New Craftsmen Studio Pegboard Wall

We are longtime fans of The New Craftsmen, a London-based firm devoted to promoting a network of 100-plus weavers, ceramicists, furniture makers, textile artists, and other makers from the UK. (See Remodelista’s posts on some of the unique, high-quality goods, sold via their online store here, here, and here.) Now we have another reason to admire them: their incredibly chic studio.

We are especially captivated by the pegboard wall in the studio, which is used to display works by some of its artisans. The wall was commissioned and designed by AMD Interior Architecture.

Above: The pegboard plywood wall shelving was built by a bespoke joinery shop, but any “competent DIY person” can replicate it, says architect Andrew Martin, who oversaw the project. A few things to keep in mind: “Each hole had to be accurately cut so as to give a slight upward angle to the dowels. We made a jig to cut these correctly. The back of the board has cross battens where the holes are cut, which ensures the right depth for each hole to support the dowel, weight of the shelf, and contents,” says Martin. And last, “the board is held on the wall by split battens.”
