Design Sleuth: Stackable TC100 Bauhaus-Inspired Dinnerware

A while back, while photographing stylist Matthew Axe’s Astoria, Queens, apartment, Fan and I admired his collection of vintage Bauhaus area stackable dinnerware (genius, we thought!). Here’s a roundup of five favorites:

Axe is an avid collector of stackable TC100 tableware by Hans Roericht for Rosenthal and has amassed a formidable the collection over the years. Photo by Eric Piasecki for Remodelista (see Matthew’s apartment at A Stylish Apartment in Bustling Jackson Heights, Queens).

Designed by Hans (Nick) Roericht in 1959 as his thesis project at the HfG School of Design in Ulm, Germany, the collection was added to the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York and became the tableware used in the museum cafeteria. Vintage pieces can be found on Etsy and eBay.

A 10-piece starter Tableware TC 100 set is €94 from Museum Ulm. Individual pieces are also available from AAVVGG in Toronto and Labour and Wait in London.
