Aha! Hack: The Easy, Fail-Safe Way to Hang Cups

Plain English kitchen at Howe London.

According to Merriam-Webster, a hack is: “a clever tip or technique for doing or improving something.” Which is exactly why this mug storage idea we recently spotted on Remodelista is worthy of the designation. No, hanging cups is nothing new—in fact, it’s a traditional storage method—but what makes this execution so different is the placement of the hooks: Instead of screwing them to the underside of a shelf or cabinet, they’re mounted to the front edge.

For someone who’s not handy, this seems like a vast improvement over the under-shelf strategy. The key is to use square bend hooks, like the ones pictured, as opposed to the usual rounded hooks, for easy hanging (no wrist contortions necessary).
