The mission of Brooklyn-based Good Thing is to produce higher-quality, better-looking versions of useful, everyday objects. Founded in 2014 by designer Jamie Wolfond, the brand’s products are designed by both emerging and distinguished designers (name drop: Jasper Morrison). Among the offerings are mirrors, coffee carafes, rugs, and pendant lights, but here we’re especially enamored of the storage and organizing wares. The brand offers a nicely priced dustpan set, a sturdy pedestal for books and magazines, and an eminently practical umbrella stand, all in fun colors (plus gray) and with more decorative flair than what’s on offer at the hardware store.

Above: The Richman Dustpan is a colorful reinvention of the traditional hand broom and dustpan kit. Here, the wood-handled brush slides inside the handle of the powder-coated steel dustpan, making it possible to hang the set on the wall. Available in three colors, it’s $29. N.B.: The dustpan in pink and black are back-ordered until August. Above: Plastic Seed Hooks do not have any visible mounting hardware; instead, they slide over a small plate screwed into the wall.
