It’s obvious to anyone who visits our site that we gravitate toward a few storage classics over and over again. For instance, we have yet to meet a Shaker peg rail, a French net market bag, or a simple glass pantry jar that we didn’t like. They are classics for a reason.
Also on our go-to list? A good S hook, from which you can hang almost anything—towels in the bathroom, coats in the entryway, pots and utensils in the kitchen. Recently, the folks at deVOL, the UK-based bespoke kitchen maker, emailed us some images from a project that had us marveling at the S hook all over again—both because of its versatile utility and its exceptional ability to create an artful moment.
The photographs they sent were of a small, considered galley kitchen in Bath, England. (The owners are the chic couple behind biannual magazine Cereal.) In the image that especially captured our attention, a large silver S hook hangs from the knob of an over-counter cabinet, next to the sink. From it hangs a trio of scrubbing brushes. Suspended from the hook, the brushes look almost like art. Have a look.
