As the resident social media manager at the Remodelista sites and a New York City tiny-apartment dweller, it’s no surprise that my Instagram feed is overrun with accounts offering inspiration, ideas, and advice for urbanites like me. If you’re similarly entranced by tiny homes and their residents, here are a few of my go-tos for small-space living inspiration—from apartment dwellers to Airstream remodelers to tiny house lovers.
1. @readtealeaves
Above: Erin Boyle’s blog Reading My Tea Leaves is a source for “slow, simple, sustainable living in a tiny apartment.” Her Instagram feed features sunny corners of the one-bedroom apartment where she lives with her husband and two small kids, picturesque Brooklyn streetscapes, and inspiration for a simple life in a tiny space.
2. @600sqftandababy
Above: Even more impressive than her handle suggests, blogger Alison Mazurek lives in a 600-square-foot apartment with her husband and two kids. Between shots of her family out and about in Vancouver, you’ll find useful advice about Murphy beds, storage solutions, and small-space survival.
3. @themoderncaravan
Above: The serial Airstream renovators behind The Modern Caravan have small-space living down to a science. Ellen Prasse and Kate Oliver renovate vintage Airstreams for a living and are expert sources for on-the-road living (with kids and pets).
4. @tincanhomestead
Above: Another follow-worthy Airstream account is @tincanhomestead, from the husband-and-wife duo behind Sugarhouse Ceramic Co. Self-professed homesteaders and DIY enthusiasts, the pair documents their journey of renovating a vintage Airstream (and writing a book about it) with a feed full of small-space storage inspiration.
5. @countyroadliving
Above: Angie Wendricks‘s tiny farmhouse in the country is full of a few of our favorite things—namely Shaker peg rails, an Ikea-hack kitchen, whitewashed beadboard, and even a compact Smeg refrigerator. Her feed showcases a carefully curated collection of well-made home goods and inspiration for minimal living.
6. @tinyhousemovement
Above: The ultimate source for all things tiny houses, @tinyhousemovement is a collection of the best tiny house interiors from all over the Insta-sphere. Collected using #tinyhousemovement, each photo includes great ideas to steal (whether you live in a tiny house or just a small apartment). We like the expert use of a rail system and S-hooks in the post above.
7. @branchabode
Above: Photographers Katie and Tyler Branch‘s “little house” isn’t too small for plenty of houseplants, two kids, a dog, and an enviable attic nook. Their warm, sunny Instagram feed provides a glimpse into their life.
8. @whitneyleighmorris
Above: Having 400 square feet with two dogs, two adults, and a toddler means that wasted space is not an option in creative director Whitney Leigh Morris‘s home. Every corner is considered, and she even finds space to entertain (as evidenced in this video).
