I’ve always envied architects’ blue print cabinets. Their size is impractical for a standard home office, but there are other stainless steel paper storage drawers that offer great storage in smaller packages. Yes, even in the era of Paperless Post, papers have a way of piling up. Here are five options to consider:

Above: The compact Bisley 5-Drawer Cabinet measures 11-by-16-by-13 inches high. Perfect for the desktop, it accommodates Bisley Drawer Inserts ($13.99 each) to organize small items; $99 at The Container Store.
Above: At a loss for where to store children’s artwork, your poster collection, or other large flat papers? Mayline Steel Five Drawer Flat File Cabinet features drawers 41 inches wide to accommodate 24-by-36-inch sheets (up to 200 sheets per drawer). Available in nine colors; $716 at Office Furniture.
Above: The budget option for smaller storage needs, the Helmer Drawer Unit offers convenient casters and six drawers. Made of powder-coated steel, it measures 11 inches wide, 16.75 inches deep, and just over 27 inches tall. Offered in red, white, and silver; $39.99 at Ikea.
Above: I am smitten with the concept of using heavy duty steel tool cabinets in the office (and in the kitchen; see our earlier post Storage: Steel Tool Cabinets in the Kitchen) for papers and other office tools. Viper Tool Storage 5 Drawer Rolling Cabinet in stainless steel measures 26 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 35 inches high; $479.99 at Sears.
Above: A mobile paper storage solution: the Sandusky Paper Storage Cabinet has five drawers and heavy duty locking casters. It measures 46 inches wide, 24 inches deep, and 36 inches high; $705.95 at Global Industrial.
