While poring over pictures for a recent house tour (Before & After: An Environmentally Sensitive Rehab of a Cotswold Bungalow), my eyes alighted upon what I thought was a stylish planter. Turns out, it isn’t a planter, though it’s certainly been repurposed as one; it’s a storage basket from Milagros, a store in London that, according to its website, “works directly with individual makers and workshops in Mexico to create quality handmade products, combining traditional techniques with contemporary design.”

Milagros’ well-priced baskets do exactly that: marry modern style (think stripes and bright punches of color) with traditional craftsmanship (each is hand-woven in Mexico using the Loyd Loom method). One thing to note: They’re made of plastic, a material we’re usually not fond of. But it’s easier to make an exception when it’s for something this well-designed and durable.
Here are some favorites from their website.
