Noteworthy Outbuildings: A Chic Fishing Shack on the French Coast

Leave it to the French to devise the world’s most elegant fishing shack, located on a waterfront site in the south of Brittany. Raum Architects designed the structure as a temporary dwelling and workspace for an oyster farmer. Come with us on a tour.

A single wood space heater heats the entire interior.

Translucent panels cover the house’s wood frame allowing light to flood the workspace.

The polished concrete floor can be easily hosed down.

A rooftop deck offers another space for plein-air dining.

The living roof is both beautiful and provides insulation.

The exterior is clad in a black-stained wood siding.
